Dr. Timothy Henderson, MD
Dr. Timothy Henderson is a Sport Medicine Fellowship trained, Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon who has been in practice for 8 years. After being in practice for 2 years as the director of a busy Trauma based Orthopedic Surgery Department in Columbus, GA, Dr. Henderson completed a self designed mini-fellowship focused on the study of minimally invasive & outpatient anterior total hip replacement. He has since become an instructor of the technique and is active in technology design to make the process even less invasive. A native of Livingston, New Jersey, Dr. Henderson recently returned to his home state & after a short time as the Director and Chief of the Orthopedic Service at Lourdes Medical Center in Camden, has become the newest member of the Gotham City Orthopedics. While his main interest lies in minimally invasive total hip replacements, Dr. Henderson is Fellowship trained in Sports Medicine from UCLA where he assisted in the care of elite level, Division-I and professional athletes, has extensive knowledge and expertise in arthroscopy of the shoulder and knee, total joint arthroplasty of the knee and shoulder, and traumatic injuries in both the child and adult. Dr. Henderson is the surgeon designer of the ATHELLO Table Extension. The ATHELLO, which stands for Anterior Total Hip Equal Leg Length Operation, is a table extension device, which allows the surgeon to safely manipulate the hip in order to perform a total hip replacement without cutting through any muscles, tendons or ligaments. This dramatically decreases trauma to soft tissues, greatly reduces the chance of post-operative hip dislocation and radically speeds recovery. With the use of the ATHELLO and the direct anterior approach, selected patients may be able to be discharged home the same day from the hospital after total hip replacement surgery or can even have their procedure performed in a an outpatient surgery center. Dr. Henderson has been a diplomat of the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery since 2009 (Board Certified) and is an elected member of the Fellowship of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (FAAOS). He completed his residency at Emory University in Atlanta, GA, received his medical doctorate at George Washington University School of Medicine in Washington, DC and completed his undergraduate degree in Biological Anthropology at Swarthmore College in Swarthmore, PA. Dr. Henderson remains at the forefront of advancement of orthopedic procedures and technology and as the Co-Founder and CEO of ATHELLO Inc. is actively designing several product that will be utilized within the orthopedic surgery community once completed. Dr. William Schell, MD
Dr. Schell is a Fellowship trained Orthopaedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine and arthroscopic surgery as well as general orthopaedic injuries and trauma. Dr. Schell graduated from Stanford University and received his medical degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He subsequently undertook an internship and residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Center in New York City, which included orthopaedic training at Sloan Kettering Memorial Hospital in New York and Alfred I. DuPont Children’s Hospital in Delaware. Dr. Schell completed additional training with a Fellowship in Orthopaedic Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City, where he served as an associate physician for the New York Jets, New York Islanders, Hofstra University, and the US Tennis Open. Additionally, Dr. Schell has served as team physician of the New York Titans Professional Indoor Lacrosse. Dr. Edward Yang, MD
Edward Yang, MD, is Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and Chief of Orthopaedics at Mount Sinai Queens. He received his medical degree from New York University School of Medicine and he completed an orthopaedic surgery residency at the NYU Langone Medical Centerâs Hospital for Joint Diseases. He is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. Dr. Yang has been a faculty member of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai since 1989. He specializes in the treatment of musculoskeletal injuries including fractures, dislocations, sprains, and strains, as well as total joint replacements and skeletal reconstruction of nonunion and malunion. Dr. Yang previously held the position of Regional Director of Orthopaedic Surgery at Elmhurst Hospital Center and Queens Medical Center. He has published several peer reviewed articles and is also conducting research on hip fractures. Dr. Thomas Youm, MD
Dr. Thomas Youm is a Board-Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon who specializes in the treatment of athletic injuries and performs arthroscopic and reconstructive surgery of the shoulder, knee, and hip. He has a special interest in joint preservation surgery for the active patient. He performs cutting-edge procedures such as robot-assisted unicompartmental arthroplasty of the knee, bicompartmental arthroplasty of the knee, total knee replacement using custom block technology, shoulder resurfacing arthroplasty, reverse total shoulder arthroplasty, hip resurfacing arthroplasty, and hip arthroscopy for labral tears and femoral acetabular impingement (FAI). During his training, Dr. Finger served as one of the team physicians for the New York Mets. He was also one of the physicians for the Alvin Ailey dance company in Manhattan. Dr. E. Jeffrey Pope completed his undergraduate education at Pennsylvania State University, graduating with degrees in both Pre-medicine and Nutrition Science. Dr. Pope attended medical school at University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ), graduating in the top of his class. He was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA), the national medical school honor society, after which he chose the prestigious NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases for residency training. Dr. Kenneth McCulloch
Dr. McCulloch is a native New Yorker. He earned his undergraduate degree from Princeton University in Princeton, NJ and received his M.D. from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey – Robert Wood Johnson. He returned to New York City for his training in Orthopaedic Surgery at St. Luke’s / Roosevelt Hospital Center, University Hospital of Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. Finally, he completed a prestigious fellowship in Adult Reconstruction at Stanford University Medical Center in Palo Alto, CA. For his initial years in practice, Dr. McCulloch was located in Southern California where he developed one of the busiest practices in the southwestern United States. Dr. Nabil Farakh
Dr. Farakh got his M.D. degree in 1986 at Damascus University in Syria. He finished an orthopedic and traumatology residency in Russia in 1992. He actively participated in orthopedic science research and invented an external fixation device for treatment of bone fractures. Then he got a Ph.D. degree in orthopedics from Moscow, Russia in 1995. After that he was appointed an assistant professor at Kuban Medical Academy in Krasnodar, Russia where he actively participated in teaching medical students and orthopedic residents. Dr Farakh had 10 articles published in the most prestigious orthopedics journals in Russia. After his immigration to the United States, he got a D.O. degree from New York College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2005. He did his orthopedic residency at Peninsula Hospital Consortium where he served as a chief resident from 2009-2010. Dr Farakh joined Island Musculoskeletal Care in 2010. His medical training continued in New York City where he earned his doctor of Medicine degree from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. He remained at the Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center for six years of specialized training in orthopaedic surgery consisting of one year post graduate research fellowship in orthopaedic biochemistry followed by a one year general surgery internship and a four year residency in orthopaedic surgery. Dr. Beauvais is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and a diplomate of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He is Past Assistant Program Director of the Orthopaedic Residency program at Monmouth Medical Center, and has been actively invloved in teaching residents for 20 years. Dr. Grossman is an Associate Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at Hahnemann Medical School, Consultant to the U.S. Soccer Federation, and traveled with the World Cup junior team, as well as being a consultant at the U.S. Olympic Facility in Colorado Springs. Dr. Grossman is a Fellow of the American Academy at Orthopaedic Surgery, the American Academy of Surgery, the American Sports Medicine Society and the Arthroscopic Association of North America. He is the first orthopaedist elected to the International Society of Orthpaedics and Traumatologists in Monmouth County in the past 25 years. Dr. Waller attended the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he received his undergraduate Bachelor of Arts degree, followed by the New York Medical College in Valhalla, New York where he received his Medical Degree. He completed an internship in General Surgery at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City. Following his internship he engaged in full time clinical and orthopaedic basic science research at The Hospital For Special Surgery in New York City. Dr. Waller then returned to clinical training and completed a categorical residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York under the direction of Dr. Chitranjan Ranawat, a world renown orthopaedic surgeon. Highlights of Dr. Wallerâs residency included a six month rotation through the Harvard systemâs Boston Childrenâs Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts for pediatric orthopaedic surgery; a rotation through The Elmhurst Hospital Medical Center in Queens, New York for orthopaedic trauma; and rotations through The Mt. Sinai Medical Center and The Hospital for Joint Diseases in New York City for orthopaedic oncology.
Dr. Stanislav Avshalumov
Dr. Avshalumov has extensive experience in orthopaedic trauma, especially trauma of the hip. He maintains an academic role, having authored and co-authored numerous papers and being an active researcher. Dr. Avshalumov completed his medical education in Russia at Astrakhan Medical Academy and at the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine in May 2003, performing his postgraduate training in orthopaedic surgery residency at Peninsula Medical Center in Far Rockaway, New York from 2003 until 2008, receiving honors as intern of the year and chief intern. He completed a fellowship in joint preservation, resurfacing and replacement at Washington University Orthopaedics in St. Louis, Missouri, at Barnes Jewish Hospital, in July 2009. During Dr. Avshalumovâs fellowship, he participated in over 750 joint surgeries and is well versed in the latest procedures and innovative practices of not only joint replacement but joint replacement as well. His clinical interests include total joint replacement surgery, total hip resurfacing, minimally invasive hip and knee replacement and revision total joint replacement. In addition he specializes in arthroscopic surgery of the hip and hip disorders of the adolescents and young adults.
Dr. Stephen Silver

He subsequently undertook an internship and residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Center in New York City, which included orthopaedic training at Sloan Kettering Memorial Hospital in New York and Alfred I.
